I guess the "3 months for $9.99" trick is not currently available.

Its a decent deal but note that not many good books are under unlimited category. I am now regretting my action to buy one year plan.

Check out what free apps are available to read books, mags, etc from you local library, mine even offers many free movies to view online. Depends on the size and budge of your library of course. Also, every once in a while Amazon offers three months of Kindle Unlimited ** for free **. Usually when that happens someone gives us a heads up here at sllckdeals. I'm nearing the end of one of those free deals now. This is the second time I've done the free Kindle Unlimited on the same account. I would not pay for KIndle Unlimited too many other free options.

What's your definition of good books? To some that is different.

If you read scifi, fantasy, or litrpg there are TONS of decent books. None I would pay 10 bucks for, but reading 20 of them for $9 a month? Some of them I even support their patreon now. Totally worth it.

I've even found some thriller/mystery from new authors that were actually really good. You just have to be open to searching and expect a few duds.

In the year I've had it, I think I've found 1 book that I just couldn't read. The rest, the story was good enough I wanted to finish.

Definitely too pricey imo. Ironically enough my account is ineligible for the 3 months for 0.99 but good to go for this offer.

Just keep in mind most libraries have between 1-10% at most of the books on Kindle Unlimited.

Kindle unlimited is not for reading the newest big name author, or reading major series. They have some great staples, an excellent sci-fi/litrpg/fantasy genre with thousands of titles that are not available in print.

Just like anything else some suck, some are quite excellent. I've grown to love the LitRPG genre and there are 3 series so far that I buy almost all the books by their authors and other's whom put out a ton of great quality books.

Thx. I came this close >< to doing the Amex deal(ended yesterday) of 30 % off a year so this is great plus I had Verizon up promos and other promos from here so I've had it for a while for cheap! Appreciate this.

I don't think that statement above is true...I was referring to libraries that offer all that's available on the Hoopla and/or Libby apps. I've found they are free and easily comparable to the costly KIndle Unlimited. One app (I forget which) even includes watching movies and not just reading. Unfortunately not all libraries offer them, luckily ours does. Remember these are **** FREE****.

It's true or at least was a few months ago. For physical libraries its far more glaring. For the online ones looking at total books overdrive has for instance vs kindle it was a crazy disparity. Especially if you compare by genre's and remove a lot of books like reference books, foreign language, etc that people wouldn't read.

Unfortunately amazon changed how their search works so they won't display total books over 50,000 now so I can't get exact numbers ;-(

But there are so many books and series that are not available in the libraries, and many of them are extremely good.

In case you are not aware: your local library might have a contract with Libby (https://meet.libbyapp.com/). You can try login with your library info, search your book, then borrow and download to your kindle. The selection might be limited but I'm happy with that.

Just got a Kindle Paperwhite and subscribed for the 6 months. I found that most of the books on my reading list were NOT on Kindle Unlimited. I'm sure I can make due and keep myself entertained for a few months with Kindle Unlimited, but the best books are not included.
