My wife bought me this blender for Xmas several years ago. Being that I previously owned a Vitamix (a full-size model), I was excited to get this one. That was short lived. The full-sized model, I'd put a drop or two of dish soap, blend in hot water, and rinse after each use After you use this "low profile" model, you'll have to consider breaking down the container after each use to clean the seal ring. If you don't do this, the ring will begin to emit an odor. The other challenge is: making sure that the seal ring is seated and sealed properly. Had several misfortunate incidents in which the liquid in the container leaked all over the counter.

Wish I had stuck to the full-sized model. Easier to clean and maintain. Used it for 7 years before wearing it out.
I went from standard to low profile about a year ago - I looked at my pitcher and I dont see what ring you are referring to... I dont see any removable rings Confused. Maybe they changed pitcher design? Fwiw, I also clean with 'blended dishsoap' Smilie

Is the 5200 the full sized model you're talking about?

Thanks daisybeetle for your response. I called Vitamix just a moment ago and the "low profile" units have the removable blade. That being said, there is a rubber seal on the bottom. If you twist off the blade, you'll see the rubber seal.

If the 5200 model does NOT have a removable blade then yes, that is the one I'm referring to. Vitamix tells me there is a rubber seal in that container but being that the blade is non-removable, the seal is permanent.

Wow, kind of glad i don't have the low profile one then.. thought the tall one has its issues. If mine broke i'd still buy this in a heartbeat. Thanks for posting.

Not asking about a specific model, but do your smoothies taste like the ones they sample at costco, when demoing the vitamix? I've used mine 5 times max, and I the texture and taste are different... I am disappointed in mine Frown

So.. Is this a good deal!? What about comparing a previous hot deal which is about 255$~280$ for vitamix 780 model?

I've had a Vitamix for the last 4 years....and it you do it right, they will taste just like the smoothies at Costco. You've just got to put in the right ingredients and enough liquid. In my case water, some use juice, milk, or almond milk. You always need a smoothing agent (bananas, avocado, mango), they keep it from clumping or being chalky. Keep trying!

I have a very less idea about Vitamix. With which model should I compare with? Any suggestions?

So no go on this deal because the blade is removable??

I believe it depends on your personal choice or "flavor," if you will. If cabinet space is not an issue with you, I'd go for the 5200. If you, like us, are concerned about where it will be used/located, then you may consider this. Personally, if I had to do it over again, I'd go for the 5200 just because of teh rubber seal issue alone.
