Grocery Store - Leaving a line and trying to get back in

Several times over the years I have had people leave the line with the stuff they want to buy in front of me and then expect to get the spot they *HAD* back. Why are people so selfish and if this is you that does this, tell me WHY you think you can morally do this and get think that you just come right back where you were? If you do this, why inconvenience others to have to move the items you want to buy?
Why not do what I do if I forget to get an item? :
1. I stay in line and buy those items, then go back to get the forgotten item and then go to the self-check out or 10 items or less line to check it out.
2. I take my entire basket of items and get out of the line to go get the item.
3. I get it next time.
This is what I do. I expect others to respect me the way I respect their time.
The other day, I was at Target. This man just up and left the line, he had items he wanted to purchase on the conveyor belt. I moved the items he wanted to purchase and put mine in front of his. He didn't say a word. While that turned out ok since he didn't say anything to me, it inconvenienced my life to have to move them. I shouldn't have to do this since he should have moved it since he just left it there. He was gone a good minute a least or so, not just a few seconds either.
I had another situation where a man had a big box at Walmart in the garden center area in front of me in line and another man that was checking out in front of him, so I was third in line. The man in front of me with the big box said to the cashier he'd be right back to get a shopping cart, but asked or told me nothing. He was gone for around a minute to a minute and a half at least since he had to go all the way to the other entrance to get a shopping cart since we were in the garden center.
I moved up, because he left the line. He comes back eventually and says to me something like this "Ma'am I was there before you." I told him "You left the line, you leave a line you lose the spot you had." I couldn't believe that the jerk in front of me was on his side which by the time then was paying. I don't understand why they think BOXES that are the property of WALMART hold their spots since they don't actually have spots if you leave?
If you think about it, on Black Friday for example, if "THINGS" held your spot, No one would go through the huge trouble of camping out for days on end for the sales, would they? They'd just leave, for example, a back pack or suit case or even a shopping cart or what have you with their name on it and return the next morning instantly have the first spot in line. He'd come back that morning time the store opens(like if it's 4a.m., they'd come back at 3:55a.m. to reclaim their spot). But in real life as we all know, real life DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!! I am right, they were wrong.
I couldn't fathom myself when I leave a line that I should be able to reclaim the spot I had. I mean for example, if I was at Burger King, let's say 1 person was in front of me, another customer was ordering at the time. Let's say I forgot my purse. I go to my car real fast get it, come back. Now there's another person in line that wasn't there. I couldn't FATHOM going up to that person and telling them "I was there, that was my spot." I would get in the back of the line, because once I left the line, I had no more spot. That's how it really works. I have NEVER did something like that before in my LIFETIME and COULD NEVER FATHOM DOING THAT!!
I really feel like the man that left the line should have been MUCH MORE *****RESPONSIBLE***** in that if he needed a shopping cart, he should have gone to get one ***BEFORE**** he decided to get into a line. Also, he didn't ask if it was OK with me either, he just told the cashier which makes no sense at all. It would not have been OK with me since that's not how lines work. WHY do people think that it's "THEIR SPOT" when they aren't in line anymore? WHY are people like this?
My time is important to me too and as I said, I just don't do this kind of behavior if I leave a line. I don't think that I can just swoop back in like I never left. Lines don't EVER work that way unless someone is HOLDING the spot for you.
Also, let's say no one was there in line behind him when he did this and then I would have gotten there while he was gone, you want to make a bet he wouldn't have told me anything??? You know why, because I was there when he left, that's why he thought he could say something. WHY is that? If you are an irresponsible shopper to get everything you need **BEFORE** you enter the line, that's not my problem. I have lots of times forgotten items, but I choose to NOT EVER EVER inconvenience anyone else's lives over it though, that's the difference I am not SELFISH like these people are to just ONLY thinking of themselves and their time! I don't act like they should hold the spot I had. They are strangers and I don't expect them to care about me in that manner since they are strangers, not my friends or family. I could see if the man had asked me to hold his spot, I would have said "No", I am not going to hold your spot" and I also would have suggested him buy the box and have the cashier just hold it right by her register. I have had cashiers before watch my basket while I went with a manager to prove a wrong price on a shelf before and the cashier didn't let anyone steal my stuff(since I did pay for it at that point it was my stuff, not the store's items). That's one thing he could have done as well, but he chose to leave a LONG TIME all the way to the other entrance. Why should I care about his time if he was this mean to confront me? I am GLAD the jerk had to wait. He deserved it. What hurt though was that the man in front of me actually agreed with him. The cashier though didn't get involved. You know why she didn't get in involved, because I was right, that's why. If I would have been wrong, she would have corrected me, for sure.
WHY, do you do this if you do this? WHY if you do this, why are you so SELFISH and inconvenience other people's lives over it if **YOU** forgot something or didn't get a shopping cart? I wouldn't EVER do that to you, so don't do it to me! WHY is the world so selfish? Can't people be thoughtful of other people's time to inconvenience THEMSELVES if they forget or don't get a cart first? Why inconvenience my life because **YOU** didn't get a shopping cart BEFORE you got in line? NOT MY PROBLEM! WHY inconvenience my life if you forgot to get an item? NOT MY PROBLEM! Don't delay my life for yours when I have NEVER and WILL NEVER do that to you! Treat others as you'd like to be treated if they were you.
So please tell me WHY you think you have a moral right to do this if you are one of those people that does this kind of stuff? I'd like to know your answer honestly and why you wouldn't do what I do instead of being so selfish? Why not be CONSIDERATE of other people's time and feelings by not delaying their lives for yours? Also, WHY O' WHY do you people that do this think "OBJECTS" hold the spot you had, especially ones you don't even own yet?

If there are people in front of you being checked out and one of those in front of you go get a cart after telling the cashier that is what they are doing and no one had to be delayed for them then you should have just backed off.
I personally am the type of person if someone behind me has a item or two and I have a lot I always let them in before me even if I have better things to do than sit in the store.
As far as the target guy, that was selfish as well to have left his items on the conveyor belt like that. You don't just leave stuff at a place you don't own and inconvenience others.
I had one lady ask "Could I get in front of you" to buy cigarettes, but I had chores to do at home after work and was hungry. I feel if you don't want to wait, go to a gas station to buy something like that. At Walmart, you are going to pay with waiting for your time. The GALL of people ASKING to cut is so SELFISH and is something I could **NEVER EVER EVER EVER FATHOM doing to another human being. I am not above someone else, but that lady thought she was over freaking cigarettes of all things. That's not necessary to live. I had around 20-30 items and made her wait her turn. She was mean. She thought she was above me.
Another guy ask to cut called me a "Bitch." Yeah, I am really GLAD I did not let him in front of me. Mean selfish jerk that was.
As I said, I used to let people in front of me that had one item, but now I see the world as selfish as to how I have gotten treated over the years. Most people are selfish and that man at Walmart at the Garden Center that didn't get his cart before he got in line was selfish to tell me something. I couldn't imagine telling somebody that if I left.
Why think of others if others aren't thinking of me? That's not fair. So why do it anymore if they are being so selfish to me? They sure aren't thinking of my time or feelings ever.
I used to do this until I have had 5 people over the years **ASK** to CUT in front of me. Now, since I see the world is so selfish, I don't do this anymore. People are mean and selfish. Just look at how these people react such as the man saying something to me that he was there when he went get the cart. How is that not selfish to tell me something, huh? That box is owned by WALMART, NOT by him, so he left and deserves to get in the back of the line just like I do. I don't do that to people, people shouldn't do that to me. I do the morally right thing, others should do the same.

but how did he waste your time if the person in front of him was still checking out before he got back? or should he have waited till he was checking out and told the cashier to find someone to fetch him a cart while everyone sat and waited for said cart to come there for him?
My time was wasted if he would have come back into the spot he had. By me not letting him back in the spot he had, I didn't get my time wasted, understand?

Thought he made it clear he was just grabbing a cart while waiting for the customers in front of him- not like he turned around and continued shopping. Any how there will always be people like that or the ones that want to continue to shop while in line, I guess I do not feel it is worth feeling bad about everyday encounters- rather look for the good- life is to short but yeah people can be annoying and everyone have different things that annoy them I guess- one time I had a old timer just walk right around me and my adult daughter while we were next in line- I did not say anything and if he were younger I would have and should have any ways because if he was good enough to run to the local grocer to grab something from the deli he should have waited in line and the cashier just rang him up which I felt she should have said something but this is the local grocer and I do not let them bag my groceries I do it myself because they can not train anyone to do it properly which should be a whole new thread- old people can be rude- crap I am getting old—- something to look forward to .....holiday shopping time is coming if you want to see some rude people go to the Mall of America- people play dumb about where they think lines start and walk straight up to the cashiers I like the sound of Amazon more and more...
I
