They're very high quality, known for their hiking shoes and outdoor activity clothing. Not sure what you'd compare them to, but I never pass up the opportunity to stop in at a Merrell outlet store because the clothes are great but usually expensive.

Merrel is super popular and are very comfortable.
If you're really into hiking though I wouldn't recommend them. They don't alast as long as other hiking boots ( hence the cost).
They're fantastic for walking around though imo

Super excited - I'd tried on a pair of the MOAB hikers at LL Bean and liked them but my store didn't have my size. Just got the same shoes plus a pair of socks for $84 vs. the $140 I would have paid at LL Bean for just the shoes. Thanks, OP.

why is Merrell charging sales tax for Pennsylvania?

Pennsylvania does not collect sales tax on clothing or shoes...

My best guess would be because they happen to sell a few items outside of those categories, so they just charge sales tax on all of it for that reason?

i sent customer service an email to request an adjustment

rei, amazon, and shoes.com don't charge sales tax for the same exact shoe i bought
