The media stand seems like a great way to break a phone or tablet. I have the old rolling stand (that I use with the 552's) and the newer stationary stand that I added wheels to (that I use with the 1090s). They both work very well.
still curious about my question. Does the rack serve any purpose besides elevating the weights?
Don't get me wrong. I'm not knocking this deal or anyone who has a rack. Just wondering how it helps besides getting it off the floor. Cause if you are lifting heavy weights, I find it difficult to stay steady enough to look at a tablet or a phone. dunno. maybe just me.

Serves no other purpose than elevating the weights for easier pick up/set down.
As much as it might not make sense, bending way over to lift dumbells from the floor is not very healthy. The reason why deadlifts are mostly done with barbells is that the large weight plates put the bar around mid shin, whereas lifting a dumbell will be from close to your ankle, hard on the back even if you are strong.
