Depends on your definition of "better". A high quality 82" TV will most likely have a consistently better picture quality especially when you factor in light.
However that 82" TV will remain at 82" regardless of whether you shit your pants or not . A projector will go as big as you have a wall for it (usually up to 300"). My usual 130 and 140" screens look phenomenally more impressive than an 82" TV, but unless it's a fully light controlled room, you will likely have worse picture than the TV.
Sooooo apples and oranges.

Pretty great prices. But now is also the season when we'd expect all the new shit to start popping up. The question of course would be - is the new stuff substantially better than these units. Because if not - that's pretty solid pricing. Especially for the 8050 model. Very tempting indeed!
ok so for those wanting to upgrade from the 1070, Benq just posted a new PJ on their website that has almost identical specs to the 1070 except it's 4k (e-shift, stop it with your native 4k...)
they're calling it the W2700
no idea on price or availability but it's the same tech as the ht2550 so find it hard to believe cost would be different.
I'm just looking for a starter projector to play casual gaming and watch movies. Will the CHS100 work? I've heard about the lumen rating but is there a way I can check how many lumens will work for my place? I plan to put this in the basement but there is a small window and one egress window.
