First, you'll need to make sure your current Chime kit is compatible with the Ring Pro.
Second, you'll need to check to see if your transformer has enough voltage to supply to the Ring device.
I didn't know any of this, installed it and it blew out my Chime box... spent a ton of hours figuring it all out. Hope that will save someone the headache.

Not quite sure, but I figured the chime for another $40 was worth it. I believe the pro is a little better than the 2. But don't take my word for it. I would hope someone with more product knowledge would chime in.

The doorbell 2 can operate on batteries or hardwired I believe. The pro requires a hardwire only connection. To me that is the biggest change other than form factor.
