There's a whole thing about these drives on Reddit. From what I understand, these used to use the Red NAS series, but someone figured out that WD was charging more for the supposedly barebones drive, and people began buying these to shuck for the drive, leading to WD rebranding the drive inside this enclosure as a different model and a plain white label, but evidently it's literally the same drive.

Buy two, then it's already $16.50/TB with amex $30 back on $300 offer, before any other discounts or cashback. Price per TB is the same as the 8TB drives last year, and those haven't dropped further in price at all since then.
Went in on a few of these during the Samsung pay 30% CB. Now I just waiting for them to decline the CB. I guess I was going to buy them at this price anyhow...
I bought 3 earlier this week (the limit was 3). Looks like I'm allowed to buy 3 more again with this promo back. Sounds ok right? I need 6 after all for my NAS.
Can you open these up easily and use the drive in a NAS? Is everything standard? Normal SATA?

Since the only two possibilities for the 10TBs are reds or purples (there's just no way they're golds), as long as you're OK with potentially getting purples, you should be fine. I've shucked many of the 8TB WD easystores for reds, and can't imagine the process for 10TB easystores are different in any significant way.

I believe people report getting White ones. Are they similar to Red?or different?
