Everything you are saying is computer illiterate gibberish.

"Protect my original computer (using IDE connections).". No one has a PC using IDE, not made in the last decade and a half, at least. And antivirus has nothing to do with your HDD cabling anyway.

"Bricked" when the computer is not bricked (i.e. computer is basically a black screen, no BIOS/UEFI boot, completely broken). The idea that AV "bricked" your computer is crazy talk - that's a BIOS or hardware problem. At most the AV screwed up your O.S. booting up (NOT a brick).

Computer never restarted after installing - #1 correlation does not equal causation and you haven't stated anything actual that would point to this as your problem (no indication of what went wrong / how it was fixed / etc).

Not saying maybe it didn't cause problems for you but you're throwing around words that show you don't really know what you are talking about.

I've also been using Bitdefender for over 3 years on 4 different PCs now. No issues whatsoever.

Even if this happened to you, this was 6 years ago. Kids from 2012 are adults now, lol. I'd suggest you give it another shot. Especially at this deal.

If you use it on enough machines you'll eventually run into a problem where it embeds itself into the registry and is a PITA to get rid of, most people just re-install OS.
All AV software does this and Kaspersky was the worst of the worst back in the day.
