I got a couple of these for $40 a piece on clearance at Sam's last year. I even grew a couple tomato plants. Just deep enough to put a tomato cage but it was falling over by the end of the season. I would probably stick to smaller plants. The drain plug has to be open if it's outside where it will get rain. I am not sure how much water it holds with the plug open if any. For some reason my water level indicators never really worked. It's great for herbs, lettuce, flowers. I may try one of those cherry tomatoes that tumble over the edge.
