Stay with MetroPCS for at least 10 days. Let whomever people get their commission. If enough employees start complaining about such promos b/c tons of customers cancel before 10 days ... guess what will eventually happen.
Port in :
This offer is only valid for number port-ins from different carriers which are not based on T-Mobile.
If you have number to port-in - Fine.
If not,
- Get an H2O wireless Sim from amazon for less than a dollar and top it with $10 pay as you go OR any other cheapest available non T Mobile option
- You can port in numbers from ebay[ebay.com] for $7-8 and use that. This method is has not worked for few people. (YMMV)
VoIP numbers like Google Voice are not valid for this offer.
Have the accountnumber and PIN before hand and make sure there are no outstanding balance/dues
Where to get this offer?:
MetroPCS does not have online ordering system. You have to visit in store.
There are two types of stores
- Corporate (Managed by metroPCS)
- Third party Authorized dealers
Always go to corporate stores if you have one near by your place. (I would recommend even if its within 50 miles considering the pain you have to endure at authorized sellers )
Look for this info at https://www.metropcs.com/find-store.html by selecting iphone check box and corporate stores near you.
OK..I got the store details. What next?:
If you are at Corporate store and there are no taxes on the phone. You would be looking at
$50(plan)+$15(activation fee). The tax thing might vary from state to state. I am only talking about single line here.
Ensure that they do not add additional fee like MetroPCS premium protection of $6 + $2 nameID fee. These are optional services but few corporate stores add it without asking. Also, they might insist that you MUST buy insurance.
If you are at Authorized seller, you might have to pay taxes on the entire phone price which is sizeable. Also, they might insist that you MUST buy insurance.
Port in usually takes less than 30 mins if there are no issues with your current account. Most of the stores *WILL* open the phone and put SIM in it.
Only rose gold is available for 6s. Call the store to check if its available.
OK..I got the phone. What next?:
The phone is *NOT* unlocked. Phone will unlock after 180 days of active service.
Phone would not work with T-Mobile or any other T-Mobile MVNOs even though metro is T Mobile's child company.
If you want the phone to unlock without staying with MetroPCS for 6 months, there are three options -
- Pay someone in ebay to unlock it (Starting from $60)
- Dont pay/Dont port out the number/change device or do anything with the number and let the phone sit in drawer. After 180 days, check Sprint BYOD[sprint.com] website if the phone is eligible to be used with Sprint. If it says yes, then phone is unlocked. Alternative and more obvious way, if you have another network SIM, put that in to check if phone is unlocked.
- Use RSIM.
After Unlocking, the phone can be used on basically any network Verizon/Sprint/ATT/TMobile.
Monthly payments
Good thing about Metro is , they would not charge additional tax on monthly plan. $50 per month means $50 dollars. No additional tax.
Cancellation
This is prepaid. There is no ETF or any termination fees. Just stop paying it will get cancelled eventually (Note that you would lose your number this way if thats important to you)
Port out - If you stay with metro for 6 months, get this unlocked and then if you want to cancel, simply port out or call to cancel.
Cancelling before 180 days completely negates the deal. There is no need to call as well. Stop paying or remove your credit card from Auto payment. Nobody has confirmed whether phones will unlock automatically after cancellation also.
Hope this answers most of the common questions related to this offer! If you want metroPCS review and speeds - Google it!
You will have to pay tax on whatever full retail is on thesephones which looks like $300 on the iPhones. I got the $50 6s several months ago and have been very happy with their service. MetroPCS runs off Tmobile towers and blows away full Sprint service here.

Need to port 4 numbers? Or port one and get 3 new numbers?

1 ported number = 1 free phone.
Based on the previous deal on the Airpods, if you try at a corporate store instead of an Authorized Retailer you'll likely NOT pay tax on the full retail amount.
Obviously, YMMV.
Does anyone know if you're already on the $50 plan with one line could you just pick up 3 more lines/phones for cheaper than $160 - I purchased a line during the Airpods promo and am hoping that I can switch plans some how? Is that even an option? This might play out really well for me
I could sign up for MetroPCS for a month just to get the LG Stylo 4. Question: can I later start using the Stylo for my regular existing T-mobile line?
MPCS uses T-mobile network but I wonder if their phones work on T-mobile without going thru any unlocking? I googled but could not get this answer.

Unless their set up has changed since April, you cannot use a T-Mobile sim card in a MetroPCS. You could not even swap sim cards between MetroPCS phones.
They have since rebranded, so things might be different. But I would guess not.

it's prepaid. no credit check.. not even ID check..
you don't cancel unless you are reselling.. and it's easy to cancel
they restock every week.
and this time stylo 4 and j7 star are free too.. and 4 of those for $160 is as good as iPhone if you are planning to resell.
