This one is a downgrade for v2 it seems. Only thing added was wifi support. They took away battery back.

Shouldn't advertise the price as a door buster if it requires a first time user coupon.

Battery backup was useless & caused more issues. WiFi is a major upgrade when you can bring the hub to the device for inclusion instead of having to bring the devices to the hub or drag LAN cable around the house with you.

If your power goes out nothing the hub works with is likely going to work and more than likely your WiFi router won't work either.

Does that not make the upgrade even less worth it? I imagine this is good for people who already don't have a Smartthings hub.

Which is why the batteries were useless. You need UPS for all your networking equipment or battery in hub did nothing. Failed attempt for battery powered security system, since most sensors are battery powered. Hub can't sound an alert without internet though.

True for the most part. Except the door / window / garage sensors etc that have their own battery can still notify you if somebody breaks in etc
