Wallyworld has a couple of specific Savage Axis XP's on sale/clearance in big boy calibers for 199.99 in store. 60$ rebate brings it down to 139.99!

Note - Not every Savage Axis XP is marked down, it's only these 2 very specific models.

These will come with a basic (cheap) Bushnell 3-9X40 scope.

I was able to pick up a .308 last night in Florida for 199.99.

Yes these are entry level guns, with a gritty action, and a heavy trigger, and a somewhat lousy stock, but, they do have a good reputation for being accurate shooters.

Great find -- call my local WM at 0745, associate said "none in glass case but lots in the back." I get there and lo there are now only "1x of each caliber" in the back, and the guys make a big production out of announcing 'no more savages' at a couple intervals. :-)

So here's the neat part --by calling before the desk officially opened, I got a standard WM associate and not the sporting good mgr.. There were none in the case when I got there, and had I not written down dude #1's name and time of call, I suspect it would have been a 'well it looks like we're out.' What are the odds there were more than two back there? :-)

When the gun counter clerk scanned the bar code it showed one left... She went back to check the gunlocker and apparently it wasn't there. I guess guns just walk away in Universal City, TX
