Just purchased this TV at my local Walmart store. I thought this was a great deal for a 50 inch 4k HDR tv with a reputable name brand. $298 normally $428.

There are 4 50" 4K TVs at Target (this Vizio, Hisense, TLC, and Element) for $299 with a cartwheel coupon for 10% off in store so $270. Additional 5% off with red card. YMMV since it is in store and stock varies by location.
My friend has this TV. Built-in Chromecast is great and works perfectly. Sound is okay, it gets loud but as you can expect it's not the best quality and it isn't very clear. The picture quality is good but you really have to go through the settings and tweak everything. It will not look great out of the box. My biggest complaint is that I wish the blacks were blacker.

Also, the USB port actually works very well. I wasn't expecting it to accept many formats. I read reviews saying that Vizio TVs don't read mkvs, or files with the h.265 codec. But I put in some 2160p h.265 mkvs on a flash drive formatted to ntfs and it read them all without a problem.

At $300 I think this TV is a great deal.
Wow, so much wrong with this. Lots of generalizations. What 50" TV do you recommend then?

This is the D class of the 2018 Vizios. It's been at this price for about 8-10 months now. Decent picture quality but in my opinion it's not the same as the M or P versions. So I would rather spend the extra 150 for a M which I have in 65 inch.

Depends on needs. Not a great main tv, but great for bedroom/guest room/etc

4k is not worth it. Viewing anything not in the native resolution, will make the picture look like crap. All media you consume would have to be 4k to make this worth it.

What's the major difference between this and the sharp 55" deal that BB has right now for $300?

Not true all my normal blu-ray 1080p movies look even better on my 4k TV than they did on my older 1080p TV
