Editor's Notes & Price Research

Written by
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms compiles the first three official prequel novellas. Set 90 years before the events in A Game of Thrones, they chronicle the experiences of Ser Duncan the Tall, a humble hedge knight whose honorable comportment is often at odds with the schemes of the royals who rule the Seven Kingdoms.

This would be a pretty decent place to start actually. Its much shorter and smaller in scope. Its unrelated to anything that happens in the larger series but has the same general style and feel.

Good read as always from GRRM, but yet still impatiently for The Winds of Winter.

Thanks! I've been waiting for the print copy to come to my library, but for this price I'll bite for the Kindle version.

How is this for someone who has not read the Game of Thrones books yet? Is this an unrelated prequel?

Taking place nearly a century before the events of A Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms compiles the first three official prequel novellas to George R. R. Martin's ongoing masterwork, A Song of Ice and Fire.

NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY LOS ANGELES TIMES AND BUZZFEED.

A fan might enjoy these more but it's not as though these don't stand on their own

It's a related prequel in that a number of characters are ancestors of characters you encounter in the main series (well, and a sibling of Maester Aemon from the Night's Watch.) It's enjoyable on its own but they're stories and characters that flesh out stories referenced in the main series.

It's good if you at least watched the TV show first but it may not be the best entry point into the overall world.

It's an unrelated prequel. I recommend reading it whether or not you've already read the original series.

I have an extreme back log of books already (Now 5 unread on my kindle). But seems like a good price, so I have added this one too. Thanks!
