Stubb's 14-lb Charcoal Briquettes - $5.49 / 14 lbs @ Lowes BM YMMV

I was at my local Lowes [lowes.com] last night, and noticed they had their Stubbs charcoal on clearance.

$5.49 for 14 lbs = $.0392 per lb. 45% off.

Stubbs is a no-filler briquette that burns like lump. The price per pound is really good for this type of charcoal.

So if you weren't able to take advantage of the HD/Weber deal, you might want to try Lowes/Stubbs.

I'm not sure how accurate BS is. They report no stock at my local store, but the store had about half a pallet for sale. 3/5 stores in my area had inventory from what I could tell.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

not as good as HD clearance. I got the kingsford pro & long burn for $3/bag 15lbs. Even on therir HD site, there's $4.99/15lbs bag for Kingsford instant one.

Not meaning to thread-crap, but here's a couple of brickseek links to Home Depot for those who seem inclined. At least the Long-Burning (11-lb) bags seem to be on clearance.

Is a 14-lb briquette harder to light than 14 1-lb briquettes?

I'm pretty sure those are 11 lb bags?

Kingsford Pro is another no-filler briquette.

Kingsford Long Burn appears to have slightly less charcoal, per the SDS.

My store offered Pro, as well. Same price for either.

I couldn't find the Pro on their website. Do you by any chance have the Internet# or a BS link?

No stock and $9.99 at all the stores near Durham, NC. But I did stumble across the Kingsford Pro deal when I was at HD the other day.

How long would sealed bags stay good? Will it absorb moisture and deteriorate if it's stored for many months?

It depends on the storage environment. In someplace like a climate controlled garage, it will last years.

I keep my charcoal in the shed. I've had some bags last about a year without issue. Though a friend gave me some of the old formula kingsford last summer to compare and 1 bag was going soft/moldy. No clue how old they were or how they were stored. But 1 of 3 went bad.

However you store it, make sure that it doesn't sit on concrete. Concrete will wick moisture out of the ground and into everything that it touches.

You all must not be from South Texas where we just go out and cut and use mesquite.
