You can however refill the pods. Look on Amazon for "vertuoline refill" and there are few options. IMO, this is better than ordering pods if you can spare the time to refill with coffee of your liking.
I only get double shot espresso pods from Nespresso. Since they don't have a variety, I've been refilling with the coffee of my liking ground in a burr grinder I had picked up a while back.
A tip for people who may want to refill. Just be sure not to cover the bar code on bottom of the pod with the aluminum foil sticker. The bar code is what machine reads to define extraction method.

Also, imho coffee is definitely not as good as regular (pressure based) nespresso...
