Anyone know if the 7 Drawer Red End Cabinet For Roller Tool Chest
US General Pro - Item#68785 is the non glossy finish that goes with the prior model 42 inch tool chest. I know the 42 was replaced with a 44 inch red gloss chest but it still looks like the top is the powder coat finish. The web page description says powder coat but the pic sure looks like the gloss. Seems like they still sell the 42 inch top, I didn't even see a 44 inch top for the new bottom. Since the item number on the new 44 is only 1 less that the side cabinet I am guessing I may be SOL on this but maybe someone knows something more about it.....Thanks

Here's the super coupon for the 12v Deluxe Trailer Light Kit for $19.99. Good until August 31, 2012. Not sure if it's the best price for this item or not.

Anyone have any comments on the torque wrenches ? (2696,807, and 239)

Have coupon for 9.99 ea. Wouldn't get too much use but would like to have one on hand for periodic use.
I have the 1/2 and 3/8, both are rock solid for general car maintenance work. I actually took few wrenches out in the store to check for fit and finish (marks, smoothness, etc) and picked the "best" out of the bunch. Make sure you hand tight down the torque at the need level and stored them at 0 in their cases.

For the DIY'er, I think these are just fine. I know the pros like the beam style and something made in the USA but from torquing wheel lugs to even head bolts they work great and you can't beat the price.

FWIW, it's recommended that you store them with the tension off the spring when not in use (don't leave it set to 80 ft lbs and just toss it back in the drawer - reset it to 0 first). This way future torque settings should remain much closer to what you have dialed in.

I have the 3/8" and 1/4" from HF and they have performed perfectly for this DIY'er. My 1/2" Craftsman Digi-Torque was one that had been busted where I worked and they decided to toss it saying it wasn't worth returning. I brought it home and returned it for a free replacement after work that day. If it wasn't for that I'd have bought the HF 1/2" as well.

I've got to second that rbreding. Haven't seen the flat or mat finished boxes in quite some time (a year or better?). All in gloss red now.

If you decided to go with something less permanent than what blowhard suggests this Magnetic Towing Light Kit might just work (and the price is pretty reasonable). Q is good 'til 9/9/12.

To add to this, I believe the old "42 inch" and new "44 inch" are the same box, they just changed the name/finish. The end cabinets, tops etc are all interchangeable so far as I know. My flat 44's dimensions are no different than the glossy ones.

A beam type torque wrench is more accurate and stays in calibration while the click type don't - that's why many people prefer them. The beam type can be had with a lifetime warranty at Sears for around $25 for the 1/2".

A click type torque wrench should NEVER be set below the lowest setting - they will lose calibration. They should be stored set to the lowest setting, which is not 0. For the HF wrenches, it's around 20 ft-lbs. In addition, before use, they should be manually activated several times to lubricate the mechanism.

I have both the 1/4" and the 1/2" from HF, and they are fine for "approximate" torque. The settings are not accurate though, especially for lighter wrenches like the 1/4". I tried several in-store with a calibrated standard before just accepting they were only about 20% accurate and read "high". They can be calibrated, but unless you have the tools to do this yourself it's not worth the cost.

As a result, the 1/2" is OK for things like lug nuts where a wide range of torque settings is acceptable. The in-lb wrenches like the 1/4"and 3/8" are essentially useless and will cause damage if used out of the box without calibration.

My advice is that most people will get better results with a beam type torque wrench from Sears.

Torque wrenches were discussed in the mechanic's tools thread.

A beam is more accurate but more challenging to use, especially depending on placements. I'd recommend getting a good quality beam to match the click, especially if you're doing anything more than lug nuts on steel rims. Periodically use the beam to verify the click, preferably at 3 points and including the top torque you'll use the click for. Bear in mind how the wrenches move (especially the head of the click). 100lb-ft is a very common lug nut torque now-a-days. I bought 2 of the 1/2" clicks (#239) such that I strictly use the first and if I get uncomfortable with the first, I'll shelve it immediately and use the second.

The magnetic tow lights I got had non indexed light sockets. I had to open them up and change the lamps the other way. And no, I did'nt wire my harness backwards.
the magnets are not that strong and the plug\wire is not very stout, but for $10...
