Now I just need to find another $15+ to get another free multi tool.
Thanks!
I love War!
They cut 12" as in 12" wide board. Because they both slide, the width of the board isn't a factor in your choice.
So one uses a 12" blade and the other a 10". 12" blade is going to cost you more and possibly be harder to find (though HF has them and I'm sure you can get whatever you need off amazon & rockler). The advantage of +2" is the depth of cut. Obviously you can't cut a 12" thick board, at most it would be 12"/2-arbor. But that extra inch does mean it can cut thicker wood, and more importantly thicker wood at a bevel than the 10" saw.
Flooring isn't that thick, size doesn't factor into it.
The 12" bevels left and right. This is excellent for crown molding where you might be mitering and beveling both ends in different directions. The 10" only bevels left and you have to be a bit creative to get both ends cut.
Bevels aren't a factor in flooring, unless you're doing it wrong.
Both saws miter both ways. This you might need in flooring if (when) you find the room isn't square or you have tile, carpet or wall that angles through the room. Even if they didn't miter both ways, simply flipping the board over allows you do the same thing on simpler saw.
I don't see any numbers, but that 12" is going to weigh a bit more than the 10".
Oh and the 10" doesn't have the laser line either, but you can get the $5 add on for circular saws or the $15 arbor mounted guide. That is if you can't do things the old fashioned way.
Depending on how wide your flooring is, you could get by with the $85 miter saw [harborfreight.com]. It should have no trouble with flooring, unless you have some really wide 5"+ panels or something.
But then, I'd be adding to your list, not reducing it.
Lastly, most sliding compound saws use a simple rail & bushing guide system. Meaning, if you can pull it forward 6", it has to go back 6". That means the back of the saw is going to have to sit out way from a wall. Not so great if you have a 18" workbench along a wall in the garage.
And very lastly, just before you make your cut,... make damn sure your hand isn't in the path of the blade (having tinnitus I'll also strongly recommend hearing protection).
The Free With $$$ purchase Qs are good through today only. The rest are good through 8/18. I want to see if jw can get all these freebies in one pass without any actual out of pocket expense...
