For a sliding miter saw you ideally want to use a crosscut blade with a negative hook angle like the Freud LU88R010 ($50 at Amazon). This blade also is thin kerf, which means it doesn't make such a wide cut and therefore doesn't bog down the motor as much as a standard width blade, which is important when you use an underpowered saw like the HF slider. The blade is carbide and can be sharpened for around $15-20 so it ends up being a decent deal if you use it frequently.

If you are just using this as a construction-grade chop saw for 2x4's or to build a deck then any of the blades at HD or Lowes will work fine as long as they have 40-60 teeth and are carbide tipped. Many of those blades are sold in pairs, which tells you that even the manufacturer admits they are going to give out on you and one blade isn't enough.

However, as I posted above, unless you really need the extra capacity of the slider I would strongly urge you to look at the Hitachi 10" miter saw at Lowes for $80 as it makes very accurate miter cuts. And the lack of HF accuracy is verified by a professional in the post right above yours:

yeah same, i see more and more contractors using HF tools. one of the guys i hired to install a 2nd story window that required a ladder scaffold was using a chicago electric miter. i asked him what he thought of it. he said it cuts the same as his $400 one but he doesn't trust the angles and doesn't even bother with the laser. he said he felt out how off it was and he compensates and it works out nicely

i feel stupid for paying $180 for my craftsman 10" sliding compound miter but it works very well. angles are spot on so no adjustment is needed to compensate.

another thing to note - here in the Philly area there is a huge problem with jobsite thefts. people will sneak onto jobsites either during off-hours or while the contractor isn't looking and is working on something else. i think contractors are fed up with have their $400+ DeWalts stolen so they say screw it and get these ~$100 ones which are nearly disposable. writing off a $100 loss is a lot easier to swallow than a $400 one
Don't feel stupid, you get the use out of your saw, thats all that matters. I have both the hitachi 10" compound miter I bought from Lowes a couple of years back and the HF 12" sliding compound miter I bought after my contractor friend recommended it. Used a good square on both of them to check the angles, they both cut accurately, and thats why Family Handyman gave them the best value award for miter saws.

Bottom line for that original guy who was looking is for what they are going to do, it really isn't going to matter which saw they buy, I'd probably get a $50 used one from craigslist since he just borrows saws now.

If anyone comes across a coupon for the 72" 18 drawer roller cabinet I would greatly appreciate it. I am hoping to find a $999 coupon as they have it in stock at my local HF and I wouldn't have to pay freight.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Anyone ever see a coupon for the bench vices? 4" 5" or 6" I am not too particular, I don't do anything too demanding with the one I have now.

Thanks

Or any recommendations?

Not sure if relevant or comparable but Menards has a 4050w/3500w WEN generator on for $199 tomorrow morning.

The workbench and solar panels are lowest today than all year without coupon.

I tried to use several coupons on the solar panels today, but they were all denied. Is this normal for Black Friday deals? Can any coupons be used?

A few of years ago I remember stacking coupons to get the workbench for like $110 somehow.

Just picked up a flyer with Super Coupons in local free mag. 1-31-15 exp date
Didn't check to see if these Super Coupons are better prices than using 25% off sale prices.
Sorry if duplicate posted coupons.

no coupons can be used on any black friday sale items. unfortunately it's also the case for parking lot sales as well.

as far as the solar panels, it's only cheaper by ~ $10 than using the 25% off coupon .during the "regular" sale price

thanks for bringing up the solar panels, i will prob pick up a set tomorrow and then a few extra panels. i just wish they were more than 15W per panel but i guess that's how we can get them for so cheap. i'll prob hit up walmart for the batteries though, not buying them from HF

That's a good price on the 10" wet tile saw. I don't recall seeing it below $215 in years.

There are several good ones in your scans that meet or beat the 25% off coupon (brad nailer, drill press, etc), thanks for posting.

The 25% off coupon expires this Friday and we haven't seen a new one in months, so if you have been waiting to buy something you might want to do it soon.
