Vice, collets, mills, hold downs (some recommend lug studs instead of those holddown kits) for starters. Screw machine drills are of shorter length since there isn't that much to start with and adding the vice nets you even less clearance. HF here cleared out all their 20 piece mill sets for $50.
Watch thrift stores for treadmills with a nice speed knob for when you crash the plastic gears (there's also a belt conversion from Little Machine Shop).

They appear to have had some site problems. I got the same thing this morning, then other errors throughout the day. It seems to be coming back to life. 1415 B is up but A is only a shell.
