Perfect.. nothing like vinyl that'll crack/peel in time on a $1000-4000 piece of furniture.
Sell the wife. buy the chair. Problem solved
Obesity and smoking are more prevalent within the lower class so I think this is a pretty baseless claim. Let people get a massage chair if they want a massage chair.

Gotta make sure it has a long rail though. The cheaper ebay ones don't.
I got a BestMassage chair in 2016 with a long rail that is still going strong.

Can't find the model number but I think it's the ec161 - although that doesn't match what mine looks like. I paid $719 shipped off of eBay for it back in the day.

How well do these actually massage? Is it just relaxing or actually therapeutic? Any recommendations on which chair is best bang/$ ?

TIA
Can't speak on the efficacy of these particular models as I don't own one of these (I have a Brookstone Recover 3D), but generally I have felt mine to be very beneficial. Mine is a L-track with the ability to increase/decrease depth of massage, so it does a nice job depending on the issue I'm having. In fact, at some settings it can actually be painful to use because it drives so deep.

I can report that if you have a specific area of concern, these chairs may or may not be able to target certain spots, depending on the range/capabilities of the rollers. For example, I can't get a dedicated high-shoulder massage with mine as the rollers go UP but not OVER the shoulders, or extend much wider than my scapulas. You won't hit everything with a massage chair (even the high end ones), but they do a great job of loosening up muscles within 5-6 inches laterally of your spine, maybe more, maybe less, depending on the chair.

I use mine once every couple of weeks, plus as needed for tightness/tension and ALWAYS get out of the chair feeling better. Haven't been to a massage therapist since I bought it.

I'm curious - are any of these chairs comfortable for somebody 6'-6" tall? The lower end chairs, anyway. None are anywhere close to me to try them out.
Do you have a large asian grocery store like 99 Ranch or HMart? I've sat in one similar..though about 3k and it's AMAZING.. if I could afford it I'd definitely be buying one

For a comparable BestMessage chair there is a new version of the 161, the BM-E730. It has the best value for the included features in my opinion. Long L-Track, Zero-G, Foot Rollers, Heat, Body Scan, Airbags, Stretch. I got one for $870 a few months ago. Its definitely worth the price but I wouldn't for recommend anyone over 6' tall. 5' 10" or under would be ideal, I would like the chair much more if I was a bit shorter.

I had a lot of back problems. These massage chairs if used every day really do help a lot. Highly recommended.

LoL. That is the type of BS that VW owners use to convince themselves that their car is better than a Benz. I am sure you wrap everything in faux 3M carbon fiber vinyl too because it is better than real carbon fiber.
Benz actually pioneered premium leatherette with MB-Tex, and I've had two cars with it and it's nice and comfy. I've had two Mercedes with regular leather, but they were older and it was harder to discern.

VW has V-Tex, don't know if it's close or not in quality.

I think the perfect compromise would be quality leatherette on the sides of seat and leather on center and back. But if you live in a 4-season area, almost any leather will end up showing some wear and seams over time.

You neglected to mention that it was developed for all of their base trims and utility vans. It is extremely easy to discern the difference.

The only positive of leatherette is that it is more durable for people that neglect their cars.

Lol, which is why workboots are made from animal (typically cowhide) leather instead of pleather or leatherette, right?
No, the leatherette that is on the wife's pair of boots or dress shoes will crack certainly before my 10 year old cowhide leather boots will.
Lesson learned, stay away from leatherette or pleather. Or don't, and then also don't be surprised when they crack.
Wrong. Your workboots are made from animal leather. There's too much info online for people to still be following grandma's wisdom. There are plenty of better quality options, for some suggestions see: https://www.uniguide.com/fashion-...-are-vegan

If your wife would like to try quality leatherette she can check out https://www.uniguide.com/fashion-...ots-guide/

I have had my share of cracked "premium leather" shoes\boots, but as one poster mentioned the technology has come a long way for leatherette and quality varies immensely for all types of leather so just do your research like for anything else. Take care.

I agree. Have owned 2 VW passats with leatherette. Way more durable than leather and easier to take care of. Most people think it is leather as well.
Cars are not the same as couches. I've had a faux leather reclining couch that started peeling after year 4..

I'm not sure what you are getting at.
Not using grandma's wisdom here, I'm just reading the label on my boots that say it's cowhide leather, but maybe you know better than the manufacturer.

Your link doesn't do much to further your case. When I say workboots, I mean actually working in the field, not skinny-jean wearing, waxed eyebrows kind of 'work' your link points to.

So, back to what I said, animal based leather on workboots is actually very durable, and last ages longer than pleather/leatherette.

Funny. Didn't they have this same deal 2-3 days ago? Maybe they were different chairs...
