I want to pull the trigger but the reviews for this card aren't great. There seems to be hardware issues that they haven't quite figured out yet

This whole 20XX series has been a disaster for NVIDIA, and its failing stock value just confirms it.
Performance gains are small, prices are sky high and quality is inconsistent at best. DLSS is disappointing, rays are just a gimmick at least for now.
I feel it is better to skip it altogether and wait for next 30XX series or AMD alternative.

$490 before stupid MIR. There have been better deals. I'd pass on this unless you like mailing in rebates and waiting months for a check. Or just really need a graphics card now.

Falling stock has nothing to do with it. That's all due to a flat crypto market. Next few quarters will b more telltale.

I disagree that Ray tracing is a gimmick ...the results look amazing and further prove that lighting is much more important than resolution and textures when it comes to immersive graphics. AMD is investing in the same tech, and not as some gimmick. Watch the footage from metro exodus and even the Doom Ray traced videos... Tell me that's not true next Gen.

The only issue is price and lack of support. Support is coming...developers and competitors are seeing its value.

might as well grab a 1080ti used and wait. Only reason to grab RTX cards is if you need a huge upgrade or if you're like me and just decided to switch to PC from Console and need a GPU upgrade from a beastly 960m then its better to get RTX since it will last longer with new tech that hopefully gets adopted soon. Buy the 2060 which is a smidge better than the 1070ti, but don't be like me and buy a 1440p monitor and be forced to return your 2060 to buy a 2070, but at the last second buy a 2080 instead because I have impulse issues good thing Frys were still having their desperation sale and the price hurt a lot less than it should have.

If you have anything 1070 and above theres really no need to upgrade imo. Or try to look see prices on BH Photo since they don't charge tax outside of NY and tax on things like GPUs will make deals seem less slick.

If you're contemplating buying this, don't. Especially if you have a 1080 like myself. Buy a 1080 save $100+, ray tracing is so limited, and performance hit on a 2070 makes it a joke.

I'd consider buying it, but attaching either of those games to it almost seems to bring down* the value. I understand they have to play the game of "look free stuff" but i'd have a hard time finding another option that wouldnt be better.

1080 tis still cost about 650 to 700 dollars. If you are going to spend that much then might as well just buy a 2080 and have newer technology. I agree with the rest of your points though.
