Saw someone answered you already but to help for the future: ALL Tracfone brand (TracFone, Simple Mobile, Total Wireless, Net10, Straight Talk, Walmart Family Mobile and Page Plus) phones are (supposed to be) locked until you use it for 12 months on the service it's meant for. That's the policy for all of them.

If you want to find out about unlocking:

1) If it's an iPhone from one of them, it can usually be "software" SIM unlocked using R-SIM (it's not a permanent unlock). Just search SD to check the iPhone model that's been posted and see what people posted about R-SIM for it. It's usually been on here already. The Simple Mobile Open Box iPhone 8, 8+ and X were factory unlocked out of the box. That one instance was an anomaly.

2) If it's an Android phone from one of those TracFone brands, type the phone's name (i.e. LG Rebel 4) plus the service name (i.e. Simple Mobile) plus "unlock" into eBay. If there's a way to unlock it, it's very likely going to be there. Takes a few secs to check. If you don't see an unlock method for it listed on eBay, it 99.99% means it can't be unlocked before 12 months of service. The Nexus 6p from Total Wireless a while back was a rare exception.

That's pretty much all a person will ever need to look for when trying to figure out if one of these TracFone branded phones is or can/can't be unlocked.

Give someone a fish vs. teach them how to fish.
Uh, not quite.

The Moto E4 has a better screen, higher capacity battery, a fingerprint sensor, and most likely a better camera and speaker.

Between this and your previous comment asking why someone would ever want to unlock this phone (answer: so it can be used with other carriers), it doesn't sound like phone tech is your forte.

Purchased this last night. Probably some sort of price mistake but who knows. No one uses Simple Mobile and only one of their phones can be unlocked (the galaxy on5)

Do you like the phone? Understood, can't unlock, but thoughts on mild use as a spare android device on wifi?

Not too techy, please advise. Getting a video doorbell soon, would this be a good device to use with it? TIA

Why this question has to be asked in every single phone thread? I don't get it. Is it really nessessary? Like is this a tradition or something? Some enlightens me please.
typically, Simple Mobile, Straight Talk, Total Wireless (tracfone family) phones are heavily subsidized (and locked to the carrier). Its quite natural for people to buy these cheap and use it on other carriers. And so the question about unlocking.
