You can still buy 4T online but exchange for 5t in store (even different style) as long as both items are same brands and same price.

My situation was like that... I bought 3t carter's onesies when it was one sale online. Original price $20, I paid for about $4 after on sale and stacking multiple coupons (40% off, babysale $10 off $30...etc) . I didn't want to return it because obviously, I got it with a GREAT awesome price$4. A few months later, I decide to get a bigger size and of course the sale price/promotion is gone. However, I am still able to even exchange for 4T carter's clothings (different style) as long as mine is brand new (never worn) and the one that I want has same "original" price $20. If they don't have 5t in store, you can still buy 4T online and exchange it later once the local store has it back in stock later time.
