Do you have to have pre-existing wiring and mount for the fan? Unless it's a replacement fan, it may be quite a bit of work to pull wires in to the middle of the ceiling. $79 for all that would be awesome!
I don't thing the basic installation would include wiring. That option costed us $300 from our builder when it was a lot easier to add a box when building the house. The basic installation would be just for mounting the fan on pre-existing ceiling box which is not much of work.
If you already have wiring on your ceiling save yourself the money and install it yourself. You tube is your best friend for a DIY project like this. As for all electrical work just make sure the electricity is off before working with any wiring.

Some fans are really difficult for one person to do. Especially if your ceiling is higher than 10 ft.
Not to mention, all it takes is one crappy fan installation (not balanced), and you'll wish you paid someone to do it.
I've installed several, and even the easiest ones aren't fun. I would gladly pay $79

That's what I thought. Agree with haynstyle78 ... not a big deal to install yourself if all they are doing is installing on pre-existing stuff.
Installing a ceiling fan yourself is one of the easiest things any homeowner can do. It is a major ripoff at $79. I would consider it at $25. I have installed quite a few over the years.
For the average person, aside from assembling the fan it should not take you more than 15-20 minutes to install it.

I agree if you have high vaulted ceilings with a long downrod it is harder. This deal however says on the website they charge extra when it's over 10'. If vaulted ceiling was included at $79 I might agree it is a decent value.
Regular fan install usually takes me 30-45 minutes from start to finish including attaching blades.
I agree with others in that if you can wire a light switch you have the skills to install a fan into an existing fan box.
I agree basic installation isn't difficult, even adding a box doesn't take much work. The thing is, in our house as we have gotten more mature our patience with these jobs has decreased. Standing on a ladder with a heavy fan overhead, arms raised for 20+ minutes fighting with little screws (my readers and a flashlight) as well as fan blades that have to be put on last isn't worth the irritation. I appreciate the deal on installation.
Also worth noting that not everyone is physically able to self install. A deal on installation is a nice offer to share.

Good point for those not physically able or marginally able to do manual work. However, I'll say that the newer, better fans (Hunter, for one) have made it REALLY easy to install these days. Once you install their bracket, you hang the fan on it, and there is no need to hold the heavy part while you're attaching the housing, lights (which plug in, no more wiring each light), and fan blades.
If you can't do it, $80 is good. If you can, it's not worth it. I say that, but my last install was a serious PAIN because I had to switch out the ceiling box from a light one to a ceiling fan-rated one. Word of advice if you have to do that -- buy one with a brace/rod that's round, not square. Trust me! Lowe's sells the round ones while HD has the square ones. The square ones force you to care about the orientation of the brace since a flat part has to be facing down, which doesn't matter on the round one.

I agree with you 100%. Installing a ceiling fan is pretty basic to install if you already have wiring and a box installed. Now if you don't have tools to complete the job it may be a good deal for you.

This all depends on the quality of the fan. The cheap ones do not weigh too much. The quality one's are heavy and are definitely a two man job.

I wonder how much extra they're going to charge for a vaulted ceiling. Would like to know others experience in getting a ceiling fan replaced on vaulted ceiling over 12' high.
