Neat little device. Yes, its not going to be the highest quality, but you get a lot of kit for $50. This review was pretty helpful and highlights some of the fun features of the camera.

Here is the above youtuber's full written review [forbes.com] with a lot of information on the Plus & minus.

Still images taken by the Holo360 on his Flicker page: https://flic.kr/s/aHskKt2Ua4

Note that at time of his post the suggested retail was $430 and it was widely selling for $200.

States 6.9k photo resolution, anybody try it for photos and can chime in? My yi 360 takes good video and pics in 5.7k, I havent seen anything 6.9k before, if they pics are better than my yi 360 then at $50 I would consider buying one just to snap pics

The lack of a tripod mount is crazy for a 360 cam. They pretty much require being left somewhere, or at least used on a stick. The fact that this has such terrible stitching makes this a hard to justify device at any price.

Looks to be like a decent camera.. But.. They lost me when the reviewer stated that your hand will be captured in every shot. Meaning.. No ability to attach tripod/selfie stick (loathe sticks), which avoid hand capture.

But if it didn't capture your hand in every shot, then it wouldn't exactly be a 360 degree camera..? (My experience with 360 degree cameras is limited to just the Essential Phone, so I have no idea if others use some magical trickery to avoid capturing your hand.)

Edit: Reading that Forbes review [forbes.com], it indicates that this captures more of your fingers in each shot than other cameras. But I think the bigger issue is that even if you minimize the fingers, the edge of the camera is captured in every shot which seems like more of an issue since that means you'll always have a hard seam in your 360 photos. Too bad.

The Tom's Hardware Review of the Holo360 [tomsguide.com] says that it comes with a waterproof IP68 rated case that has a mount for attaching a selfie stick.

They say you get some reflections if you leave the clear top of the case on (which makes it waterproof). But, that you can just use the bottom part to attach the stick. They show photos with the case on and off.

Caution: The Acer listing says that it comes with a waterproof case, but most of the youtube reviews, including unboxings, do not show it. The User guide (and the youtube unboxing I saw) [cnetcontent.com] shows a leather slip case. No mention of the WP case.

There are other 360 cameras in the $50 range like the Gear 360. By all reports, the Gear 360 is better.

You should be able to mount this on a tripod. It's basically a smartphone shaped camera. Mount it the same way you would a smartphone.

I own a gear 360 and its fun but not having a screen makes shooting much more of a hassle. Also the spherical design makes carrying it in your pocket almost impossible. I like the design here as something that I could take out and about with me for a couple of random shots. For $50 bucks, I figure why not. Also the inclusion of the underwater housing is a plus for when I plan to go to the beach this summer.

This and the essentials phone have a bad design for a 360 camera. The body is too big. Look at the other 360 cameras. They have huge lenses and small bodies. They are basically a pair of lenses on a stick. That makes it possible to hold the camera without your hand being in the way. On this camera, due to the size and shape of the body, your hand just takes up more space and thus shows up more in your videos. It's just not your hand, the Forbes review points out that that big body also shows up in the videos.

I would consider this for a wide FOV camera than a 360 camera.

OP said "Apparently runs Android 7.1 does not require a separate phone to operate." Other cameras don't really require a phone to work. Some require a phone for initial set up. My 360 cameras haven't linked to my phone since the day I got them. A screen on a 360 camera is pretty useless. Since if you are looking at the screen then your big head is in the way. Held up and above your head like a 360 camera is, you can't see the screen. Just the way this camera is designed, I think it makes more sense as a wide FOV 180 camera.
