So, I foresee these dropping in price like a lead ballon.

Honestly, after having my own dvr I'd buy it at this price or higher. It's funny how this started out as something I was curious about and now it's a must have.

This is not a great price but its not bad, also got mine for under $100 last year.

I was grabbing these for $90 range with incentives.
New models could be on the horizon and capable of ATSC 3.
Yes, unfortunately. But that doesn't stop you from setting up your own local DVR software. What sucks overall though is that to see the TV guide, you have to use their app. And the only free guide that works I know of is this one and WMC. In addition their app has to connect to the internet to work at all (again, still not stopping you from using a third party), and a VPN messes all of that up. Apparently, according to them, it uses UDP for third party apps, so it doesn't error correct which was causing issues for me... after giving it some time and enabling and configuring QoS on my router, it now works without glitches. But it was a lot of messing around. I think the nail in their coffin is Amazon's DVR just released versus the streaming thing. Directly connecting a tuner to a windows 7 PC with WMC was the most straightforward setup I've used. Networked tuner and other apps after WMC leads to more tinkering required.

That literally makes no sense. That streaming service was around for 5 minutes. SiliconDust has been around a long time.
Watch a flock of these end up on EBay, as users who purchased the year membership will be screwed in the next couple of weeks.
Just watch.....
