Description from the product page to save people the click in case they don't know what this is (I didn't):
  • Flip on the Little Giant VCMA 20UL 115V Condensate Pump and watch it automatically collect condensate from your air conditioning, refrigeration, and dehumidification equipment. You'll be glad you have it when draining via gravity just won't do.
  • The condensate pump has 80 GPH of power and empties the moisture into a half gallon collection tank. The thermally protected, fan cooled motor keeps the water at a maximum water temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • The Little Giant VCMA 20UL 115V Condensate Pump is also good for high efficiency oil and gas fired condensing furnace and condensing boiler equipment.

I actually need a condensate pump but had no idea how much one would cost so checking on Amazon it appears Little Giant is a reputable company in the area... and they sell a 554425 VCMA-20ULS (Also 1/30 HP) for $38.19 via Prime. Note that it's sold by VM Innovations as well.

So the question is, unless there's something substantially different about the 2 pumps, is the $2.20 I'd save by buying direct through some random company worth it, or would dealing with Amazon direct (and getting Prime shipping and the ease of returns, etc) be worth it.

I had no idea what a condensate pump was until last week when mine gave up. I purchased the one on amazon for ~38 dollars. I can't believe it's popping up on slickdeals now.

I've had this unit for ~5 years and it replaced a similar one that was there for a decade prior. My hvac guy recommends using a tablet to kill bacteria without using bleach, forget the name of it though. Overall, dependable unit especially for the price.

Just to be clear - this has a half gallon tank that it will pump out of, not into (probably not your mistake, but it is worded incorrectly either way). Generally used for places that might have their A/C or other water collecting appliances in a place that has no drain nearby (and need to pump it somewhere else).

Wonder if a guy could use something like this to make a "French drain" in his garage. Probably just need a 5 gallon bucket and a submersible pump at that point I'm guessing.

I have two of them that are about 17 years old and both still work fine (knock on wood)

I clean them out every few years.

I think you need an automatic drain valve

You could then have it drain into the condensation pump to pump the water somewhere.
