To help you guys out, the M4 is very similar to the M5 but missing a few features, neither do n0t compare to the M9+ which is in its own league.

M4 is missing the QoS/Anti virus/WPS that M5 has. The M4 cause of the new design gets better range across the board but its not a very big range increase, just subtle. Speeds the M4 gets about a 10-15% increase on download speeds on the 2.4ghz band over the M5. It has equal or slightly slower performance on the 2.4 ghz upload. It has better 5ghz performance compared to the M5 on the upload, but is way slower on the 5ghz download tests sometimes as much as 30%. Max speed reached in one reviewers tests using the best wireless card currently available was 507 Mbps.

As for this deal its a great price, I got the orbi 2 pack refurbished from the amazon deal which I got for my brothers house, but now am contemplating getting this instead, just to have the 3rd station as a backup or possibly sell it and lower my total cost of the 3 pack.

Wanted to add, TP-Link is one of the few manufactures that lets you use all the Deco products together in one mesh so you can mix and match, and they are also probably going to be the first to let you use them no matter what firmware they are on. Right now all the mesh systems from all manufactures to work properly require all the units to have identical firmware, which sometimes causes issues for people trying to update them.
That is the entry level M4 (AC1200), this is a deal on the top tier M9 Plus (AC2200).

Sometimes the sq footage does not play as huge of an factor as people think. Some houses cause of layout, construction materials, wireless devices, and bluetooth devices can kill some normal home routers and their ability to blanket coverage properly.

Should I go with this or the new M4 system scheduled to be released this month? The M4's max speed is 867 mbps while the M9 is 1500, but the M4 is $179 on Amazon.

I may go with the M9 since it's easily returnable at Costco in case I change my mind.

Hey. I'm also looking at mesh systems for my house. What are the benefits of this new system that's coming out?? I only pay for 100 Mbps so max speed isn't really a concern for me.

M9 is amazing. Works fantastic! Range is insane. I have about 1300 Sq ft and there are zero issues. I also see coverage outside sometimes like 50 feet outside my house.

I paid this for the 2 pack on black friday

good deal i bought the m5 3 pack recently from amazon for $165 and am happy with it. i just do the usual wifi stuff nothing huge no big in network transfers and have a 100/10 connection and i've been happy with it. i know having the dedicated radio is a nice feature but not worth about 80 bucks more and the hub again nice to have but not essential. definitely a good deal if you have more intensive needs for your network than the m5 can provide.

Biggest difference is that the M9 Plus has an extra 5Ghz radio that is used as a dedicated backhaul. Also the M9 Plus can act as a smart automation hub with built in Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/Zigbee radios.
