M4 is missing the QoS/Anti virus/WPS that M5 has. The M4 cause of the new design gets better range across the board but its not a very big range increase, just subtle. Speeds the M4 gets about a 10-15% increase on download speeds on the 2.4ghz band over the M5. It has equal or slightly slower performance on the 2.4 ghz upload. It has better 5ghz performance compared to the M5 on the upload, but is way slower on the 5ghz download tests sometimes as much as 30%. Max speed reached in one reviewers tests using the best wireless card currently available was 507 Mbps.
As for this deal its a great price, I got the orbi 2 pack refurbished from the amazon deal which I got for my brothers house, but now am contemplating getting this instead, just to have the 3rd station as a backup or possibly sell it and lower my total cost of the 3 pack.
Wanted to add, TP-Link is one of the few manufactures that lets you use all the Deco products together in one mesh so you can mix and match, and they are also probably going to be the first to let you use them no matter what firmware they are on. Right now all the mesh systems from all manufactures to work properly require all the units to have identical firmware, which sometimes causes issues for people trying to update them.

I may go with the M9 since it's easily returnable at Costco in case I change my mind.

Hey. I'm also looking at mesh systems for my house. What are the benefits of this new system that's coming out?? I only pay for 100 Mbps so max speed isn't really a concern for me.
I paid this for the 2 pack on black friday
