Don't get me wrong, I have many (mechanical) tools from HF and I am very happy with those. But if I am spending this much, I would rather go with a proven maker.

Sale price $379 - $35 off $300 coupon = $344 - $10 Surprise Points = $334
I already had $42.36 SYW points = 291.66
used my sears card for another 5% so 291.66 - 17.20 = $274.46
got 14% cash back through a site (based on $326.80 )making my cost $274 - 45.75 = $228.71 oh and I got $100.13 in SYW points tax was 16.47.
In the end since I use the points my cost with tax was around $145
This is why I bought mine from Sears
When I saw this posted on the 10th I started an online chat with a Sears rep and requested Price Protection [sears.com].
Since I had not yet picked up the item the transaction wasn't complete but they noted on my account it had been offered at a lower and confirmed it. Soon as I got home I chatted them up again online and was credited back $40 bringing my cost with tax to around $105.
I got it set up tonight and I have to say its a pretty nice saw. Very well thought out. It's not the Powermatic 66 made in the USA that I am lusting for but then I don't have the space for that right now. Flipped the on button for a few seconds, it's a little loud to play with in a townhouse after midnight so that will have to wait till morning. So far I feel very satisfied with my purchase.
Thanks for posting this OP or I might not have noticed the sale to get price protection activated.

The Hercules line is manufactured for Harbor Freight so if you are within the 90 day warranty or if you purchased the extended warranty (which is usually pretty cheap), you just bring it in and they swap it out for a new one. There is no waiting, no down time. Harbor Freight emails your receipt so long as gave them your email address. Makes proof of purchase easy.
With Dewalt you'll need to call(if theres a number) or email support, get an RMA and ship it to an authorized service center. You'll be without your tool for a while. Hopefully you have your receipt and registered the item if not you'll probably be refused warranty service.

Lowes will probably replace Kobalt for you if they have one in stock or they'll try to replace with something Kobalt that is like the failed tool. You might have to argue about this, I've read some stores tell you to contact Kobalt and ship it to them even though the posted warranty says to return it to the store (https://www.kobalttools
