1. DDR4 are about the same price now. It makes more sense to upgrade the board+CPU for future-proofing.
2. Most people that "lived" with their old computers with the DDR3 they already have can either survive a little longer and wait to upgrade their entire system.... The CPU performance/price for Ryzens are really compelling.
3. So, basically, this would only be good for 2 types of people: Those who has a decent performing CPU+board laying around that can use DDR3 memory, or someone who is already running a DDR3 board and doesn't have enough ram (or has a failing stick or 2) and can only afford to pay $68...
I'm reading this post because I happen to have several boards/systems that is in various state of build. The MBs are mostly from Microcenter CPU combo+openbox deals and cost under $30... at $68, I'm not even biting...
It's too bad it took so long for the supply and demand to finally drive it to clearance pricing. I'm at 16GB now and I had thought about going to 32GB but the benefit really isn't worth the cost. Waiting on a msata deal made buying a decent SSD a better choice because that will at least travel to a new computer. Waiting this long for DDR3 to come down makes saving the money for my next machine a better choice now too.

It's too bad many people that could use this upgrade will never see this deal because some people think that every deal posted should be for their benefit.
Don't thumb down a deal just because it isn't something you want or need.
