Tesla has announced several improvements in the newest Model S and X vehicles currently beginning production. Among them are improvements to the drivetrain that will increase range by about 10%. Also announced were:

- Models X and S standard range are available again.

- "All existing Model S and Model X owners who wish to purchase a new Model S or Model X Performance car will get the Ludicrous Mode upgrade, a $20,000 value, at no additional charge."

Note: this is not a free Ludicrous upgrade for your existing vehicle. This requires purchasing a new Model S/X Performance.

I'm a big Tesla fan but thought they'd do a bigger refresh. Some real nice improvements though, especially to 200 kw

Just saw a tesla in china catch fire yesterday on the news. Sucks to be parked next to a tesla when it catches fire. By the way, tesla drivers in the bay area are pure shit drivers.

Tesla claims that gasoline powered cars are about 11 times more likely to catch fire than a Tesla. It says the best comparison is fires per 1 billion miles driven. It says the 300,000 Teslas on the road have been driven a total of 7.5 billion miles, and about 40 fires have been reported. That works out to five fires for every billion miles traveled, compared to a rate of 55 fires per billion miles traveled in gasoline cars.

I wanted to see what the 'ludicrous mode' upgrade was, kind of disappointed - all it is, is 20% faster acceleration, for the performance models which are $89,000 or so + $20,000 more for that upgrade unless you're already an existing owner of an S or X model. I expected some pimped out trim package.

This.
$20k worth of "free" that requires purchasing a new car that is over $100k after options

I'd rather just keep my soon to be paid off S

How did that one price/no negotiating work out for Saturn? Answer: it didn't.
Never bought Saturn so wouldn't know. But it took less than 30 minutes to purchase my Tesla Model 3 Smilie Best car experience in my life so far! I've already bought over 8 new cars so far.
