To each their own though. If you are in a spot for a tv and low on funds, I don't believe there is a better deal out there currently.
Edit: I believe if you are within 6-8 feet of the tv, there is a notable difference in quality, especially if you are farsighted. My daughters room is 10x13 if I remember correctly, so it was possible to get far enough away, but do to the arrangement of the room it was difficult.
I have 2 TCLs and a Samsung, all within a year of each other in age. No problems with the TCLs whatsoever...had to replace the Samsung panel within a year due to a red line right down the center.
TCL is a very good set for the price, in my experience. Paying more for a "trusted name brand" doesn't always mean you're getting better quality.
For TVs this size, at any reasonable distance you cannot tell the difference between 1080 and 720. Your eye can't distinguish between them unless you are way too close.
