I bought this laptop two weeks ago for the same price.

This laptop is quick and the display quality is good. The battery is mediocre however. It gets about the same battery as my Latitude 3390.

There is an 8GB RAM soldered to the system baord, but there is also an empty DIMM slot to upgrade RAM. The only downside is that in order to get to the DIMM slot you have to remove the palmrest and lift the system board. If you are adept with PC repairs or electronics repairs it is easy to do. There is also an empty 2.5" SATA bay for additional storage if desired.

I added 8GB of DDR4 to this machine to take advantage of the dual channel memory (as the Vega 8 performs better with dual channel vs single channel). I have done some light gaming and was able to get stable FPS on the games I have played on low to medium settings.

Overall, I recommend this laptop for this price. It is light, portable, and feels overall of good quality.

Just bought this laptop 2 days ago for $550. I think it is good deal for the price.

Liking the keyboard and trackpad so far. No number pad which I like.

Display is mediocre but not bad.

Bloatware is average.

Weight is good (3.5 lb) and bezel is small on the screen. Gold color is fine and the top is metallic so looks nice (base is plastic).

Can't comment on battery life and haven't tried to play any games on it.

R5-2500U is listed as a quad core on the AMD web site and newegg list it as quad core.

Thanks!
Apologies. I just copied and pasted from Amazon. I've deleted the reference to number of cores to avoid any confusion.

Anyone have details on display quality or tech?

May be able to play new games at low settings and 720p. This has an integrated graphics card so going to bottleneck you. Better integrated chip then Intel though.

For a true budget gaming laptop I would recommend a dedicated 1050 or ideally 1060 graphics card.

Whereas it's a good priced laptop, I would say for light gaming - maybe esports titles and with the graphics settings turned to low.

That's because whereas Ryzens have far better graphics than Intel integrated, it's still not much. This Ryzen has a variable TDP of 12-25W. Manufacturers can choose whether to underclock the APUs and they almost always do.

Judging by how thin and light it is (3.5 pounds), I'll bet dollars to donuts that it's underclocked to 12W.

I have an Acer Nitro 5 with the same Ryzen 2500U and it weighs 6 pounds, almost twice as much, and has heat pipes with water in it.

Specs say full number pad. Pics say otherwise.

Been looking at a sub $500 light, decently powerful laptop. This one worth it?

Anyone know max RAM? -- ETA: Looks like 16,
