This was an important PSA for me. When I logged in, I found that my plan had already been automatically changed to $3.99 / months. I think many other FP users need to log in to their account right away and check whether they have been bumped into this premium plan, unbeknownst to them.

My notification email went to my spam folder. I'm using the following link to downgrade:

I didn't receive this email (double-checked my junk folder) but the above link gave me the same message. Just to be safe, I clicked the button to keep the basic plan. Thanks.

I didn't get the email either, but I took a screenshot of the confirmation page in the link saying I was keeping the free plan. I tried on my other 2 accounts, but those are the LTE Sims AT&T. Based on the link, looks like just Sprint phones are affected for now. Thumbs down for shady FP shenanigans.

Sadly you can't use a virtual CC to avoid overcharging.

No e-mail here either but my plan was at the 3.99/month. I logged into my account and used that link to downgrade it back to the free plan.

I checked my accounts, none of them had this happen. Are you guys doing something special to make it happen like going over your allocation?

I never got the e-mail but my plan was automatically upgraded to the $3.99 per month plan. I went to https://my.freedompop.com/sprint-plan and downgraded back to the free plan.

downgrading caused $20 top-up charge. I did not have top-up applied on those accounts before nor did I have monthly charges. it was basic 200/200/500 plan

Use the link in post #2 to downgrade without paying the $20 charge.

Thanks, I'm expecting my other fp account to be 'upgraded" soon, I'll see if this is gonna help to avoid top-up charge which I doubt

with this unwanted "upgrade"/"free trial" I had one account limit bumped to 1200Mb and another to 850Mb, but the trial says 750. go figure.

Ting brought Freedompop's Sprint accounts .... that means you. And they will not do Freemium plan any more ... confirmed by their employee.

I had many mobile devices with FP for various low data use applications over the years and there is no consistency with this automatic plan change none of us asked for. Most of my accounts received this change on June 1st while some had this exciting new plan added by the system in early to mid May and were about to be charged the new fee before I ultimately canceled all of my devices and closed the accounts when I noticed what happened. Only 2 accounts out of the many I had received the email notification while all the others did not. In reviewing my accounts it affected all Sprint device types including FP purchased phones, USB modems, LTE modem/router combos, wifi hotspots, and BYOD devices. Even several of my older devices which have been dormant for some time received the new plan. What's even more confusing was a small number of my Sprint devices did not have the plan added even though they were activated at the same time as devices of the same model which did receive the new plan and were for some reason still showing active on the free plan @ $0.00/month with an upcoming payment of $0 due.

This appears to affect Sprint devices at this time, not the FP domestic SIM card using AT&T.

Freedompop as we know it is done. There is no more FP. The GSM accounts have been sold to Red Pocket.

"Prepaid wireless provider STS Media said on Friday it has agreed to sell its FreedomPop brand to Red Pocket Mobile"
