Can you use these if you dont use them as a 3 or 4 way?
Yes, but that is one of their best feature (that I don't know if anyone else has at this time). To be able to wire with existing 3 way, use existing dumb slave, AND without any rewiring. The Inovelli (at least the previous ones) require you to rewire the dumb slave. This cuts down installation time by alot.

That one doesn't have the simple direct 3 way, so even though you can use preexisting slave switch, you would have to open it up and rewire it. The one on OP does not require rewiring of the slave dumb switch.
here is more detail of the differences between the 2 switchs
I just realized I have ZEN27 but version 1, while this is version 2.0 which they are listing as having scene control. I have been waiting on this. I wish they would elaborate on scene control. Is it like double tap and triple tap to control scenes? If so, I will cancel my Inovelli preorder.

Got it, thanks! Only need the switch for outdoor landscape lighting (direct control, one switch) and now see the increase in watts on the Gen 3 so it works perfectly for me. Glad the deal was posted for the information on many important points.
Just finished putting in a bunch of Leviton Z-wave dimmers and switches throughout my house. Learned quite a bit about electrical hookup along the way. This stuff is addictive and gets expensive quick! It is nice to be able to use reuse your dumb switch, but wouldn't you want to be able to dim on both ends?

It depends on where the switch is. I'm fine with not needing to dim in both locations if it's just a 3way hallway light that doesnt need that type of control. Otherwise a "companion" switch is gonna cost another $15-20
I'm new to zwave. Remodeling my house and want to add smart switches to some of the lights. Is there a delay with these (or other brands) when dimming or turning the lights on or off compared to dumb switches?

Meh specs, compared to GE 14294:
Supported wattage - 600W Incandescent, 150W CFL/LED.
Besides, regular price for ZEN27 on Amazon is $27.95, so only $2 off isn't quite slick.
Inovelli also can do this.

Zooz claim they have a patent on it, but not sure how true it is.
