It's based off the Xiaomi Xiafang camera. However, it has its own bootloader and Firmware that is not the same as Xiaomi's. So there's some US "safety" in that. It does have night vision and 2 way audio. It also is 1080P.
Wyze does allow for Cloud save, remote viewing, but also local storage. They also just released an Official firmware that supports RTSP, but limits you on future functions such as AI recognition (cat/dog vs human movement alerts, etc). It won't be as updated as the main stock one, and you have to flash it manually, but RTSP will allow you to stream to a remote server, such as a NAS, Blue Iris, or HomeAssistant.
Wyze also has the Dafang Hacks open source firmware that gives you a lot more options to work with, even though it voids the warranty. Wyze just recently changed their CMOS chip (camera), so the Dafang custom firmware doesn't exactly play nice with it at the moment. So if you get a newer one you may be stuck on official firmware.
I can't find any reason to recommend this camera over the Wyze one that is priced $25 every day all day, unless you wanted to just control everything through TP-Link's Kasa app. I run TP-Link wifi switches, TP-Link Powerline Adapters, and TP-Link energy monitoring outlets, and I still can't recommend this over the Wyze camera.
Wyze's customer service is also top notch. I botched my custom firmware upgrade and I went to them for support in case there was some super secret reset I could do. They had me perform 2 or 3 steps and offered to replace it. I confessed and told them I had been modifying it, so I declined their replacement (karma and all that). I knew the risk, and the camera is only $25. But still, they didn't give me the runaround.

Genuine question. Isn't Wyze cam less secured in terms of privacy? Is this camera any better?
I understand many people don't care about privacy.

Both TpLink and Wyze are China companies I think
Oh I didn't know that. In that case I think it's a fair point to recommend Wyze. I personally would not be buying either though.
I think Wyze is bit better as its headquarter is based in Seattle while Tp-link is in Shenzhen.
Wyze is in Washington (state)-based. Not China based. https://www.wyze.com/our-story/
