Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.

Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:

$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included

2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.

Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

No.

You'll need to port the Cricket number to another carrier (TMobile is quick and easy) then port into AT&T.
^^^This. I ported 4 lines from Cricket to T-Mobile then to ATT - all is good 4 lines with 25 GB of data

you misunderstood..it's a good deal just piss poor because the length of the initial bonus being awarded...look up the thread to see how many users have problems...and I will return both phones I activated while keeping the plan

whatever
Agree. Also if anyone is tired of the hassle, you can call 866-608-3007 and they will refund your initial monthly payment. I also plan to return the phone to Walmart within the 14 day window.

There's no hassle unless you're trying to cheat the system.

Hopefully Walmart will confirm the returned phone's SIM hasn't been activated before any refund given.

You had to purchase 4 AT&T Prepaid phones from Wal-Mart, right?

Then did you activate all 4 individually, set up one as the master account and invite the other 3 for multi-line? Any info would be appreciated as I'm considering setting up family on multi-line.

Hmmm.... not saying its ethical , but Walmart is a corporate giant, and far from angelic. I dont feel bad returning something to them that perhaps I shouldnt from an ethical stand point. I would be happy with a gift card because I am going to spend much more money there on other things and they will make lots of money on me throughout my lifetime .

But yeah , returning more than 2 phones is pushing it

No one is cheating the system when att didn't honor their promotion. I canceled the account and will return everything including the SIM to Walmart.

Question: If some people in the family got the 25GB, but some only 16GB. Can you do the multi-line? If so, what's result of it (25, 16 or just 8GB)?
Does any one know the answer of this? Thanks in advance.

NO mate.. My (international) Note9 is still only pulling 15MBPS using the "NXTGOPHONE" APN settings.

Either way, AT&T farked the porting process (after activating with randomly generated numbers) and today when I called the customer agent informed me that I won't be getting the additional 17GB data. So will be returning the phones back to Walmart and just placed (multiple) disputes with AMEX regarding the charges from AT&T, they even charged me 2 months in advance... Don't want their service if I'm NOT getting the 17GB additional data.

Will try porting over to T-Mobile on to the $3/month plan and try again in a week, this time correctly (hopefully)
I don't know if it's still true today, but I recall a few years ago some users on a mobile phone forum complained about slow LTE speeds on ATT. The common theme was that these users were using unlocked non carrier branded phones. Apparently, if the ATT system doesn't recognize your phone (either by IMEI or by some other self-identifier), it will assume your device is not LTE capable and throttle your data to 3G. The workaround was to call customer service and tell them you have an unlocked iphone and your data was slow. They will either ask you for your IMEI and update your account, or they will flip some magic switch in the system to give you full LTE speed. Don't tell them you have an unlocked Note. They will give you the runaround and say it's not a device they officially support.

Yep. Read the thread FAQs first. Also read back several comments there's a lot of info on what to do and what not to do.

What didn't they honor? Everything was disclosed. Try to make some sense for crying out loud.

The entitlement for screwing companies in this thread is ridiculous. The larger they are the more justified. Sounds like Ocasio.

Ohh well ...you have an iphone max you can afford not returning the $29.99 phone...not sure you need SD after all..
I have a blackberry ...cheaper than the phone I plan returning and Karma doesnt care if I'm hungry or not ...with $30 I eat a full week...6 rotisserie chickens from costco and I can get 6 soups by salvaging the carcasses ....

I need to eat before starting to worry about karma ....my mom wont pay for food no more
if you are so hungry perhaps you should not worry about having a phone so you can eat. Karma is still coming for you and don't care if you are hungry. Dishonesty never wins regardless!

The porting restrictions many of us faced was not disclosed - some had their bonus wiped out when trying to port numbers from other carriers. The promotion required a new line of service but did not state restrictions on porting numbers. Some of us had to do a 3-way port at an additional expense.

I agree with Efficient Snake here... the problem with this promo is that none of the issues we have been facing were disclosed. The TOS literally just state you have to activate a prepaid phone from walmart. Nothing about keeping the sim in the phone until promo is applied, nothing about multi-line activations having the potential to mess up the promo or using a different zip/market for the temp number before porting cancelling the promo. And AT&T's customer support hasn't tried to resolve these issues. I literally had my walmart phone, it's IMEI and everything with me and they wouldn't honor the promotion and told me to return the phone and get another one and try again. So I am out the $45 first month service and stuck trying it again.

That all said, I wouldn't be jumping through these hoops if it wasn't a good deal and I don't support people who return the phone after the promo is applied. That is just unethical and not following the intent of the promo. But on the other hand, AT&T should honor their promo terms for those of us that followed what their web site said. I hope they get their shit together and this doesn't happen again in the future.
