This really isn't that complicated, you want to stack your combined service (Gold/Xbox Game Pass) up to a TOTAL of 35-36 months BEFORE UPGRADING. There's plenty of information in this thread, READ IT before you upgrade if you're confused!
There's also a big FAQ here: https://support.xbox.co
Q: When does this promotion end?
A: Unknown, speculative end date is the 17th but not confirmed. Also not confirmed if the current 1:1 conversion ratio will be normal going forward or if it will change. Reddit is suggesting it's running until June 30th: https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/...30th_2019/
This isn't a glitch, from the FAQ:
"As an Insider benefit, when you join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to give feedback, we will apply any prepaid time you have on Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Game Pass or both toward Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, up to a maximum of 36-months.
For example, if you have 3-months of Xbox Live Gold and 3-months of Xbox Game Pass already in your account and join Ultimate as an Insider, you will be charged $1 for your first month. For subsequent months, we will apply 6 months toward your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (up to a maximum of 36-months).
You can cancel your Ultimate membership at any time, and you will continue to have access to your Ultimate benefits until your prepaid time ends, at which point you will not be charged again. The upgrade of any prepaid time cannot be reverted back to Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass."

For those wanting to buy additional months of Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass, as an alternative to buying a 12 month card at a retailer, check your Microsoft Rewards.

You can buy both individual months and a 12 months of both Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass for Points. I bought 12 months of Xbox Live Gold for just under 30,000 points.
If you have the points, you can add a few additional months or a 12 month pass to combine with this deal. I used my rewards for an additional 12 months of live. Combining that with my existing months of Game Pass and Gold, I bought the $1 Ultimate Pass and now it will last until June 2022.
For those wanting to play Xbox Game Pass for PC, download the Xbox Game Pass for PC (beta) for Windows 10 app here: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-g...s/pc-games

UPDATE FROM THE XBOX E3 STREAM
Game Pass Ultimate also includes Game Pass PC. So 100 games are available on PC also using the Xbox Beta app from the Windows Store.

Try to find some cheap XBOX Live subs to maximize the deal BEFORE YOU BUY IT. Ultimate combines the amount of months you have left on Live + Game Pass.

Charged $10 for the 1 month gamer pass, called a rep, they gave me a refund and confirmed my ULTIMATE expires June 2022
I prefer keep paying ~$40 per year and choose myself what games I want to play (none of them are on the Game Pass)... instead of play games that I wouldn't normally play, just because they're there included...
It includes Gears Of War Ultimate which is $100 that I would've spent on Day 1, and even though I agree that most of the Game Pass games are meh, there's going to be a few I will be interested in.
I had XBL until 12/2019. I had GP until 8/2019.
I bought 2 years at Costco.com. Got the key in email.
Redeemed it on XBL.
Then bought the $1 deal.
I attached screenshots of my BEFORE and AFTER on my dashboard.

PS - If you do Microsoft rewards, this gives you a year+ to stack points and prepare and get more live and game pass saved up by 3/21.
