Would I be able to downgrade my CSR card to the Freedom? I realized I don't use the card that much so paying the fee is pretty pointless.

Downgrading does not impact credit score while applying for new card will most likely impact. Also closing the account will further hit score.

Yep. I asked for a product change from CS to Freedom and had no problems.

The American Express Blue Cash Preferred Card just added 6% Cash Back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions [americanexpress.com]. This does not count against the $6K yearly limit at supermarkets and is not a limited time promo.

These categories have been horrible the past two years. I'm probably going to call and change mine to a freedom unlimited.

why is it so bad, 5% back in gas is pretty good, plus they have offers inside the app for extra cash back like 10% cashback at supercuts, little caesers, starbucks, etc... I use these all the time...plus theres other deals like $7 off atom tickets using chasepay for the new MIB movie, and they have done these before with other movies...I have over 10 reward cards including the top ones like citi double cash back, cap 1 quicksilver, boa cash, amex blue, us bank cash+, etc... and theres no perfect 5% back in all categories card so its nice when these rotating category card offers give 5% back in big categories like gas etc..

Gas is good, but also a WTF on streaming services as a category. I can picture them in a marketing meeting: "let's target the millennials by including streaming services!".

I guess I can't complain since no annual fee.

Like almost everything else in life, it's situational. Not everyone spends a fortune on gas. I live about 1/2 mile from work, so I full up my Fit about once a month and it costs me $20 and I won't get much use out of this category either.

The Offers in the app are a really nice perk on the rare occasions that I need to shop at one of those stores.

Overall, Freedom has been pretty crap lately. Now I'm considering switching to Freedom Unlimited as another user suggested.

Seriously! Getting 5% cash back for three months on a $15 monthly streaming service... that's about $2.25 over the course of the quarter. Horrible!! Even the 5% back on gas isn'tthat great anymore since the Costco Citibank visa gives 4% back on gas year round.
