I concur. I have been there two years in a row and would definitely consider retiring in Phuket. Pattaya is not bad either but can be skipped. And you can get one way plane to Phuket from Bangkok for around $25. The people are the nicest and so many islands to explore if you have the dough
China Airlines is a Taiwan airlines but Air China, which is what's on sale, is a Chinese based company. They are two different entities that many people get mixed up. These prices are only for China based airlines unfortunately. And the flights are passing through CAN or PVG airports which are absolutely horrible. The layover is 3 hours but it'll take you 2+ hours to pass through their horrendous lines at customs.
