I have no experience with GCC, but a Viking cruise on the Danube was wonderful. Small boats mean you're friends with everyone by day three and it's not about the boat, it's about the medieval cities you visit along the way. The boat is where you hang your hat at night and swap stories with the other passengers.

The other thing I've heard from numerous sources is that the Austrians and especially the Germans really do Christmas well. If I were considering this deal, I'd definitely pick the Rhine or Danube over the Seine. France is no doubt wonderful in the spring/summer. But if you're doing a late November/December European river cruise, do the Christmas markets of Austria and Germany.
