I'm guessing this doesn't count as an authorized dealer for the warranty? Also I've never purchased from buy dig before - do they ship relatively quickly?

BuyDig is legit. They're an authorized LG dealer, and I bought an LG OLED through them last Black Friday which shipped quickly.

Although while on this product listing page they claim to be an authorized Denon reseller, I can't seem to find any proof of that on the Denon site. Strange.

I didn't even notice it says they're an authorized reseller. I wish Denons warranty coverage was more cut and dry. This seems like a great deal.

BuyDigital is NOT an authorized Denon dealer; zero warranty from Denon. Not so legit

Unfortunately it doesn't look like they are.

Is is cut and dry
If they are not on the list of authorized dealers then they are not

Too much $$ for a non warranty unit when authorized dealers like fry's had them for less..

Non warranty unit should be sub $500 IMO

Best Buy had this unit for $599 over the weekend, seems they decreased the discount as they now show it at $699 for the next best price from an authorized seller.

Its that time of year, toward end of summer and beyond denon models start to discount heavily and newer model talk gets more intense..

You need to look up the Magnusson-Moss Act. If an item is sold brand new, it has a warranty which is honored by the manufacturer, even if purchased by a "non-authorized" dealer. You never have a warranty with the seller anyway, it's the manufacturer.

Is this noticeably better than a Yamaha TSR-7850 in a 5.1 setup?

Actually...I think you need to look it up
https://mlmlaw.com/library/guides...dermag.htm

It speaks specifically about the written warranty provided by the manufacturer and what terms they will enforce

Here is a critical portion of the terms
"As a warrantor, you must state certain specified information about the coverage of your warranty in a single, clear, and easy-to read document."

If they explicitly say that the product must be purchased from of their of their authorized outlets then that is the situation

As for who is the backer of the warranty ..I am well aware of that after buying these types of items for a couple of decades now

Not true. Manufacturers can deny warranty from unauthorized sellers. MMWA does not protect in such cases. Hth.

>>The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (MMWA) establishes requirements for written warranties for consumer goods. 15 U.S.C. 2301 et. seq. The MMWA does not specifically address whether a company can limit warranties only to products purchased from authorized dealers. The Federal Trade Commission's interpretation of the MMWA suggests that limiting warranty coverage to certain persons—including, presumably, those who do not purchase their product through an authorized retailer—is acceptable.
Under the MMWA, a manufacturer that provides a written warranty for a consumer product must clearly and conspicuously disclose in a single document in simple and readily understood language, the following information: The identity of the party or parties to whom the written warranty is extended, if the enforceability of the written warranty is limited to the original consumer purchaser or is otherwise limited to persons other than every consumer owner during the term of the warranty. FTC Consumer Practices, 16 C.F.R. § 701.3 (2007) (emphasis added).
The language of § 701.3 implies that a manufacturer can specify limitations on the persons to whom a warranty extends and such limitation could include gray market purchasers. Given that the relevant case law discussed above supports such an interpretation, a reasoned analysis concludes that § 701.3 permits a manufacturer to refuse to warrant gray market products, as long as such limitation is clearly disclosed pursuant to the other requirements of the MMWA.<
