It can cause the SSD to perform worse than a HDD in certain situations.

In which situations can DRAM "cause an SSD to perform worse than a[n] HDD"? Link please. You are welcome.

Yes, I do need you to click those links for me, but once they have been opened I can read them for myself ...I can read that the titles are "Crucial BX500 SSD Review: The DRAMless Invasion Continues" and "11-Drive DRAMless SSD Round Up". Would you like me to read them to you again? And, while we are helping each other, let me read to you what you failed to comprehend: "In which situations can DRAM "cause an SSD to perform worse than a[n] HDD"?" You are welcome. Do you need me to point anything else out to you?? EEK! Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) vomit hug

I am really not sure what you are getting at. Dram-less drives will under-perform HDDs in certain situations.

did you actually read the article? the only HDD directly compared was the WD blue 2TB, and no, all their tests showed it beating it (if only slightly in many cases). a toshiba p300 or x400 might beat out this drive, but it would also be beaten by any ssd in most cases. there's almost no budget drives with DRAM, short of adata's SU800 (which is now closer to mid-range compared the lower price points you see for dram-less ssds. the lack of a spinning disk is a big positive for a laptop, even if in certain situations it's a bit slower. I've killed laptop HDD and ruined DVD/CDs in the drives before simply by user fault (drops, etc).

the SU800 deal on urlhasbeenblocked is a better choice for performance, but crucial is a better known name. warranty support and reliability may be better here.
