Here were the steps in my transaction:
1) I had an extra Echo Dot (2nd gen) that was available to trade-in, which I did here: https://www.amazon.com/b/ref=s9_a...9187
2) I was offered an instant $5 credit for the trade-in plus a 25% off any future current generation Echo purchase
3) I added the Echo Show 5 to my cart
4) The Deal of the Day + 25% Promotional savings (which Amazon applies to the original price of the Echo Show, not the deal price) + $5 instant gift card made my total:

NOTE; You can also use the above deal to purchase an Echo Show 2nd gen (10" screen, dual speakers+Builtin Hub) for Approx $100 plus tax. These deals will NOT work on any bundles....Just single echo devices.

For all those mentioning about 25% discount not working,
Check if your traded item was "sold and shipped by amazon". If not, they have to receive the device first to apply the discount.
Instant Trade-In may be account specific or tied to whether the echo you are trading in is registered to your account. If you do not get instant trade-in you will not get the 25% off or $5.00 until they receive your trade-in.

People have asked a few times if they need to turn in their data cable and wall adapter. According to Amazon, the answer is no because the title doesn't include "... and data cable". Here is Amazon's link about Tradein's and it has a section specific to Echo devices.
" Echo Devices must at least meet the following guidelines to be accepted for trade-in:
Device must match the product title and version, size, and color selected"
