T-mobile: Trade in Samsung Galaxy S7 or S8 for $400 toward S10 via Bill Credits

Was browsing T-mobile and found this:

"For a limited time, save $400 (via trade in credit and 24 monthly bill credits) when you buy a new Samsung Galaxy S10 on Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) and trade in a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S8."

Full details here [t-mobile.com], but key points:
  • Starts July 19th, unknown when ends
  • In-stores and online
  • S7 or S8 series only
  • S10 only, 128GB or 512GB models
  • 24 monthly credits within 2 months
  • No add-a-line required, but must currently have 2+ lines
  • Can't combine with port-in promos like Carrier Freedom, new customers must activate 2 new lines
  • Down payment required, example shown was $180 down
  • Current price is $799.99 for S10 128GB, terms show $899.99. Not sure if T-mobile will raise the price tomorrow or if it will stay $799.99
  • Not sure if similar deals will be at Costco or Samsung
  • Should also get $100 in-game credit toward select games -- details here [t-mobile.com]
Update 1: New terms/FAQ here [t-mobile.com], highlights below
  • Price is $799.99, sample down payment $79.99 + $30/month x 24 months, then monthly credits of 400 - one-time credit of device trade in value / 24 months
  • Single lines appear eligible
  • Costco in-store is not eligible, as they're doing $200 cash card with any S10 series until July 25th
  • Terms say Costco Direct Delivery is eligible (ship-to-home with EIP) and also Costco.com -- not sure if this means Wireless Advocates site is eligible, as the AAFES Exchange which also uses Wireless Advocates only advertises up to $390 with trade-in
  • Samsung direct does not seem to matching price + TIV
Update 2: Yes, your device must be in "good condition" -- minor scratches, must function, no shattered screens, etc. If you are concerned, go to the store even if you have to deal with the upgrade fee for peace of mind.

Update 3: 512GB is back in stock for the same price as 128GB. Currently only Prism White, but a good chance Prism Black will also be coming back in the next day or so.

Update 4: 512GB OOS again. Keep checking.

After taxes, trade-in phone cost and fees, your savings will come down to nothing. The worst part is the 24 months commitment.

No S10+ and bill credits kills it for me. Not that great of a deal for those wanting a regular S10. But if you don't mind 2 year contract and bill credits and they keep it at $799 you are definitely getting great value out of your old s7 or s8.

How would you get this bill credit if you prepay for the phone. I am assuming they will not let you prepay for it? I will have to call and ask

I personally don't plan on leaving TMo for a couple more years, what's the drawback for me with a mint s7 (other than me screwing up with the insurance claim) jumping on this?

The 128 GB phone will by $900 pre-credit. So will come out to $500 after bill credits.

"Limited time offer; subject to change. Qualifying credit, service, & finance agreement required. Samsung Galaxy S10 128GB: $179.99 down + $30.00/mo. x 24; pre-credit price: $899.99; Samsung Galaxy S10 512GB: $429.99 down + $30.00/mo. x 24; pre-credit price: $1,149.99. 0% APR. Examples shown reflect the down payment & monthly payments of our most creditworthy customers; amounts for others will vary. SIM starter kit or upgrade support charge may be required. $400 via monthly bill credits; must be active and in good standing to receive credits; allow 2 bill cycles. Max 12/account. May not be combined with some offers or discounts (e.g. Carrier Freedom)."

I don't think the regular S10 sells as well as the s10+ which is why they are only pushing the s10 for this deal.

The Galaxy S10 512 MB is showing the same price as the S10 128 MB on the T-Mobile website, but that they are out of stock. Not sure if you can try to find a store location with the 512 MB and trade in a S7.

that looks like a pricing glitch. Do you think Tmob store would honor that pricing error ?

They may. I haven't found a store with one in stock to make the attempt.

So Costco S10 is still $600? (without trade-in)
I am feeling this is close to coming to $500 in few months. (T-mobile version)
