Honestly, I don't know why anyone needs an app for these handheld gimbals. They're not tough to operate. Sure you can mess with the joystick and buttons through the app, but honestly, I've used this mainly to keep the cell phone camera straight on at what I'm shooting at, or where i can tilt it and it goes where I'm pointing.
From my experience, the most important adjustments on a phone gimbal, is the roll axis adjuster (goes left and right and prevents the phone from rolling left/right) and tilt adjuster (goes up and down, but prevents the phone from tilting forward/backwards). That's it.
From the pictures it doesn't seem like there's a roll adjuster, but I could be wrong, and it could be the cradle that's adjustable left and right.
How does this compare to the dji one?
I have not used the DJI model, but for about 20 or $30 more, moza has a smartphone gimbal that is really nice

I've had the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 and it's nice, but doesn't like to balance large phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy Note9. Plus many times the app drops connection.

I guess my question is if it will work with the galaxy note 9? That phone has a diagonal screen size of 6.4 inches.
Not this one but that's been my experience with other cheap gimbals.

Yup, the Moza Mini-S. One of the best ones under $150 and more features than the DJI, foldable with USB-C and long battery life for $80:

Then again, my iPhone 7 Plus and XS Max May have been too big for it.
Why do u need an App?
