Update: It's still installed and i can verify that it indeed works. i bought twice to test and now have 50k gold to spend.

From what I've unlocked so far, i think 25k is more than enough. That said, there are multiplayer booster packs that you can buy and those have 5 tiers of equipment iirc and a DLC tier that you have to buy with real money before you can spend in game gold to buy it's booster packs. All of the packs also come with consumable potions as well, so no clue how much is truly needed.

I was getting the same thing. I tried through the XBox app on my phone and that seems to work fine.

I hope this is more probing for interest than just making it free since it's an older game. I'd love to see a studio take another crack at Ryse...
