Yes, TN is good as in price/performance. The colors are washed out. Faster refresh rates, so gaming at 120hz and 144hz will making moving images much smoother.
There's another panel type called IPS or In Plane Switching. This panel has slight latency issues as you see fast moving objects, it may leave some trails behind. IPS monitors colors are amazing vivid and bright. They are great for photoshop enthusiasts and artists. Viewing angles are fantastic.

If your on a budget, I suppose a TN panel like the AOC is a great choice.
If you want a nice colorful display with fasting response times, look for IPS gaming monitors. Those are engineered for faster refresh rates. They will cost a lot more than TN panels.
I think I would go for this MSI as a VA panel over the TN. I'm not hardcore competitive and would rather have some better colors then 1 or 2ms faster response time, even if I would also lose gsync.

this is ridiculously tempting to get 2x for dual monitor or even 3... since its only FHD
5700XT should be able to push 2 without issues on most games
MSI 144hz or AW2518HF?
